Gaia and Philosophy

On 1-3 December, 2022, the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in Donostia–San Sebastián hosted an international symposium on Gaia and Philosophy. This event was organized by the Outonomy project of the IAS-Research Center for Life, Mind, and Society.

Speakers included Bruce Clarke, Sébastien Dutreuil, Audronė Žukauskaitė, Sergio Rubin, and Gillian Barker. There was also a book launch for Writing Gaia: The Scientific Correspondence of James Lovelock and Lynn Margulis, edited by Bruce Clarke and Sébastien Dutreuil, published by Cambridge University Press (2022), an evening lecture at the Koldo Mitxelena cultural centre, and a guided field trip to the Basque Coast UNESCO Global Geopark.
